THIRD INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM OF ENERGY AND EDGE TECHNOLOGY IN THE RURAL SECTOR 2007

The energy consumption in the World have been growing in a significative way as a result of the irrational use of this resource in the industrialized countries, which in addition to the intensive fossil fuel use, contributes negatively to the climate global change.

Some countries have taken actions to reduce the effects on the atmosphere through the improvement of the conventional technologies and the intensive use of renewable energy; nevertheless, these advances are not followed by other governments who seem to ignore it.

In Latin America, there are worrisome signs of the inappropriate use of the energy resources; however, the dimension of these economies does not have a noticeable incidence in the global climate change.  The problem is represented in the predominant energy policy that stimulates resources solely for large urban centers, forgetting the rural population that paradoxically lives in the strategic areas considered by their biodiversity and importance as ecological reserves of the humanity.

In this direction, we should promote the implementation of structural energy solutions that allow the protection of the rural sector, setting as priority the nature conservation, the implementation of productive processes and the actions to improve the income of the population.

This third International Symposium of Energy and Edge Technology in the Rural sector, gather the experiences of the previous meetings, open new spaces for the socialization of the research, application and innovation in the worldwide energy sector; today we face great social challenges and look forward to counteract the global climate change in our Planet. This change must start from the strategic orientation based on principles of environmental conservation and respect for the diversity.

During this symposium, we will develop four thematic axis: Edge Technology, Applied Research, Global Climate Change and Rural Electrification; in the same way, the energy crops, and recent and relevant topics that emphasize specially in the consolidation of the energy self-sufficiency in Latin America.
